Diablo PCA Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Track Event

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

About this event

Come join Porsche Club America Diablo Region for a Driver Education track event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, CA. Sponsored by Porsche of Fremont.

THIS EVENT IS FOR PORSCHE CARS – no matter where the engine is!

Please Note  - ALL groups are now wait listing for this event. If you would like to register, feel free to do so and you will not be charged unless your place is confirmed.

This event is open to drivers with no track experience ranging up to advanced level. We have three run groups allocated by experience of track driving and, of Laguna Seca. Passing will be with mandatory point-by in all groups. Instructors will be allocated to all 'first time' drivers to the track.

We take safety very seriously, and will 'black flag' any participant who disregards passing protocols or consistently fails to give point by's, including denying access to the track with no refund of registration fees if deemed necessary by the safety officer. (Fortunately, in 6 years we have hardly ever had this happen because, as a limited sized group, we have a chance get to know each other and conga lines rarely happen!).

We are a Porsche club, not a driving school or a driving business, we several run safe, fun and friendly track events each year. We do not race, time trial or time laps. We limit our events to 60 cars so that we can offer plenty of room on track and lots of track time. The registration fee includes a full buffet lunch in the Clubhouse and bottled water throughout the day.

General Information:

All drivers must certify that their have passed a safety inspection, conducted by an approved person or shop, within 30 days of this event.  Information on safety inspections is listed on the requirements page. (All Porsche dealerships are approved, as are all reputable repair shops in the Region).

Please note - rental helmets are NOT available at Mazda Laguna Seca.

General Information:

A no-host group dinner and check-in, for those who travel up the night before will be arranged. Further details will be provided to all registered participants closer to the day.

Registration Fee: $295 per driver, cancellation fee $50. No refunds after November 12th.  Instructor sign up $50. Morning coffee, Lunch  and bottled water is included with all registrations. Registration will close when driver count is reached, or on midnight, November 11th.

Please note that if you intend to share one car with two different drivers, the drivers need to register in different run groups.  That is, both drivers can not drive in the same run group.

Event requirements

This event is open to all people who drive Porsches!

IMPORTANT STUFF

1.    Registration is Critical -- priority for instructor allocation and acceptance into this limited event is decided by date of registration. In the unfortunate event that you register but we don’t have an available instructor, or place available, you will not be charged for registration or a cancellation fee.   Your credit card is not charged at time of registration.  It will be charged just prior to the event taking place.

2.   You will be assigned an instructor unless:

  • You have been signed off  “OK to Solo” by a Diablo Region DE Instructor, or
  • Your profile on Motorsportsreg indicates you have attended a number of track events as a solo driver in the recent past.

3.    You must present a completed safety inspection form (the driver certifies that their car has undergone a safety inspection by an authorized person within 30 days of the event) and a valid driver’s license during registration at the track. Diablo Region PCA will assign and supply sticky numbers for your car which attach to the glass of your windshield and rear window. Please contact the track registrar at trackregistrar@diablo-pca.org if you need a copy of the safety inspection form.

4.  Drivers are invited (recommended) to attend our DE Introduction briefing, which will be held on Nov 7th in the Community Center Lounge, in Walnut Creek at 7pm - it is free and we will be getting pizza sent in! We will have a section for new drivers to track, as well as discussion on driving Laguna Seca, an opportunity to share experience for all levels.

5. Event details, schedules and instructions will emailed to you about 1 week before the event.

6.  All registered participants will be provided a full buffet lunch.

7.  If you are sharing a car with someone, you both need to register separately.  The registration form has a section where you can provide your car sharing details.

8. Helmets are required and must meet Snell SA 2005 or Snell M 2005 standards, or newer.

9.  Questions?  Ask the chairman, Mike Roberts (dechair@diablo-pca.org) or email the registrar, Mike Ciopyk (trackregistrar@diablo-pca.org)
