The Arctic Alaska Region, of the Sports Car Club of America, will be sanctioning the second RallyCross of the 2008 Season on Saturday, May 24, 2008. The “Gruvin' in the Gravel” RallyCross will be held at the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer. The RallyCross Team has layed out an approximately half-mile course and will be utilizing the “red lot” parking area.
9:00 AM - Tech & Course Walk
10:00 AM - Driver’s Meeting
Cars will have been gridded departing tech, and we will have the first car on course at 11AM. There will be two runs per group, with a 30-minute lunch break (the RallyCross Team will be resetting the course) and then resume with the final two runs of the day. Your best 3-out-of-4 runs will count for your time.

REGISTRATION and ENTRY FEES
All competitors are encouraged to pre-register at the official online registration site for 2008 Rally events: www.motorsportsreg.com. This will aid our planning prior to the event. Yes, this is a new online registration from the company used by the solo community. Another reason to register online – you can save money!
Entry fees will be $60 for SCCA Members and $75 for SCCA Weekend Members. New, to 2008, is the Weekend Membership program, as all competitors must be SCCA members. The Weekend Membership fee makes you an SCCA Weekend Member, will give you a $15 discount towards a full SCCA membership, a copy of SportsCar (our national magazine), a DVD about SCCA, and is valid for the RallyCross activities on Saturday.
So here’s the run down on entry fees:
- Walk-up the day of the Event - $60 and $75
We have a cap of 40 entries–we may not take entries onsite!
- Pre-Register and Pay before 5/15 - $40 and $55
Your entry fee must be paid online (or mailed to SCCA, PO Box 220108, Anchorage, AK 99522 with a postmark not later than May 14, 2008). This is called our 10/10 plan - save $10 by paying 10-days out!
- Pre-Register by 5/22 and Pay at Event – $50/$65
Pre-register online and pay at the event.
NOTE - This event will be cancelled without 15-cars pre-registered BY 5/18, which is one week out from the event--DO NOT delay in registering or the event may be cancelled!!
DRIVERS LICENSES and HELMETS
Competitors must present a valid driver’s license and sign the Event Waiver. If under 18-years-of-age, competitors must have a Minor Waiver signed by their parents and presented prior to competition. Contact the Region at 243-2122 to obtain a form.
Helmets: Competitors must have helmets, and they must meet minimum Snell SA-95, K95, or M-95 ratings or newer. The Region will have limited sizes and quantities of “loaner helmets” at the event; there is a $10 charge for use during the event.
CLASSES, CAR PREPARATION AND MODIFICATIONS
The Region has established four classes for our 2008 season: Stock-2W, Modified-2W, Stock-AWD and Modified-AWD. Tires allowed are all-season, summer, or snow tires with or without street studs. Use of “enhanced” tires” i.e. performance rally tires, tires with more studs than highway legal, extreme mud/snow tires with large paddles, lugs, etc., will NOT be allowed.
Each competitor will be required to present their vehicle ready for inspection to the Tech Inspection Team at 9AM. Vehicles shall have mufflers, working seatbelts, and NO leaking fluids, in addition to the other items on the Tech Sheet.
Vehicles with a high-center of gravity (lifted trucks) or vehicles emitting excessive noise will not be allowed to compete. This decision will be at the discretion of the Event Chairman and Tech Inspector.
