Advanced Handling Techniques Play Day -
Hello! On May 1, 2011 we are holding an Advanced Handling Techniques day at Auto Club Speedway. This is a BARE BONES event -the Chapter will not be providing lunch, water, timing or trophies. Please make sure to bring your own food and water!
What we are offering is a track designed to allow you to practice those driving skills which, if done elsewhere, would land you in jail. You will get the chance to work on drifting, donuts, and drag race starts. It is an advanced skills building course and there may be parts of the course intentionally watered down. Hey - sometimes it rains in Southern California so we should all be prepared to drive in it, right?
Because we are NOT doing timed runs, work will be less stressful. We will run in hour long groups. Six to ten people will work each hour chasing cones to make sure the course is more or less still there. If you don't work you don't run. There should be plenty of time to rest and watch (read make fun of) your friends practicing juvenile antics.
Registration is $50 if you pay in advance and $75 (cash only) if you register at the event. Helmet rentals are $10.
The gates open at 6:00. Registration and tech open at 7:00. There will be a mandatory driver's meeting at 8:30. First car out will be at 9:00. The event will end by 5:00 or dusk.
This event WILL sell out so please pre-register. We don't want to turn people away but we will in order to ensure everybody gets as many runs as possible. No refund or credit will be issued if you cancel less than 7 days before the event. Before that we will issue you a credit toward a future event only.
