Join Audi and VW fans from all over the nation as they gather for the annual drive and social event in the Great Smokies! Last year in Highlands NC we had nearly 100, LOTS of fog, and even more fun. This year we'll be camped at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, with access to scenic drives, local attractions, and another unique opportunity to meet friends in our singular passion for automotive excellence:
VORSPRUNG durch TECHNIK!

For the next generation of this event, we've selected Gatlingburg TN as our venue. First, it is family and activity friendly, stays open LONG after dark, and is centrally located to some of the most beautiful driving and scenery in the entire United States. We've headquartered before at Highlands NC and Alcoa TN, but as we grow we realized we needed more space and more for folks to do. We're not ALL freaks about the twisties (well, maybe!), and some of us want to relax as much as or more than just drive.
- Even though TN Highway Patrol was making a nuisance of itself last year, our reputation for safe driving should keep the THP at bay (reminder to you crowd pleasers!!!!) .
- Weather in late April and early May should be beautiful: wait til you see the view from Clingman's dome!
- The Shriners will hold a convention at the north end of Pigeon Forge. We're coordinating routes and times to avoid any confusion. This includes a parade route they plan.
- Minis on the Dragon will be there all weekend. Their HQ is over at Fontana Village, and they are a great bunch for socializing and driving. Expect traffic on the Dragon, but barring anything untoward, wave at them as we go by!
-
Routes you can choose yourself:

Cherohala Skyway map!

General Schedule
- Thursday we early birds will arrive and set up HQ at Baskins Creek Condos (info below in the Lodging and Food section). We may even get out for a night drive on the Foothills Parkway and up to Clingmans for a nightime spectacular!
- Friday we'll have registration open until 12PM, and then after 5PM in the evening. In between, anyone who wants can check into their room and check out the local scene.
- Saturday we'll have a couple of short and long organized drives, and our intent is to meet in the middle for lunch on the Cherohala Skyway route. This will allow group and individual drives, large and small, and free-lancers to enjoy the challenges of the local area and buzzing the Minis!
- Sunday we'll exfiltrate back home, hopefully without incident or intervention by others!

COORDINATION and INFORMATION:
- Bring radios: GMRS/FRS radios are nearly universal in their availability. We generally setup on channel 9-14 (we use the sideband), but what is important is that you and your group have an alternate to cell phones. In some places, cells can't talk to one another even though you can see you buddy just ahead of you!
- Bring rain gear. Last year the Blue Ridge Parkway was uncooperative. We still had a grand time, but it was cold and wet!
- We'll provide a shorthand THP number and other emergency data at the driver's briefings.
- Periodically we'll issue updates to registered entrants and on the websites. This might include intel, weather, packing lists, or whatever it is that is on my mind while I'm traveling at 0200 in a Delta luxo-liner!
How's this for some karting fun?

NOW: CONTINUE REGISTRATION! The early bird gets the worm (and the good rooms!)
Event requirements
Proposed coin design (coin was rejected):

This is a family event: young people and those who'd rather walk than drive can do countless things in the area: sight-seeing, karting, tourist venues, music, local art and craft, or you can DRIVE till you can't stand it. All are welcome!
We will accomodate various driver levels by asking how you wish to group up for the sorties. The only skill you need is safe driving. Remember Rule #1!
