Sacramento Teen Clinic

American River Junior College

About this event

A car control clinic for teenage drivers. This event teaches teens to control a car in a variety of real world situations. We teach accident avoidance, ABS and panic braking, slalom driving in both wet and dry conditions, all of which are designed to improve awareness of your car. Additionally there is an exercise called 'driving the dots' that is designed to make the teens more aware of where the edge of the road (or curb)is located. At the end of the day every teen should leave with much improved driving skills and a big smile on their faces.  Please send email to Gordon Sanderson if you have any questions. This is an all day event where the teen will spend most of the day in the car. We refer to it as classroom in a car.

Event requirements

Please make sure that the car you are bringing is accurately recorded on the order form.  All teen students must have a valid drivers license or learners permit, be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and they must be driving a fully registered vehicle. Vehicles can be shared but is not recommended. The teen will gain more from the clinic if they spend the whole day in a car. If two teens will be sharing a car a seperate registration is necessary.

It is recommended that the teens bring the car they are most likely to drive on a daily basis and you should do a basic safety check prior to attending the clinic. (Do the brakes work? Is there tread on the tires, brake lights functional? etc) If a car looks unsafe there are people at the event who will do a quick tech.
