About this event
Come out with us to slide in the snow!
The Clinic in December 2008 at Bremerton Motorsports Park was well attended. Everyone went home telling stories and driving with sharpened skills in the snow and icy conditions we saw several times last winter.
Join Audi Club Northwest for a Winter Driving Clinic (WDC) at a still-to-be-determined date and location in Western Washington.
Learn car control in low grip conditions. Practice driving skills in a car-friendly environment. Share experiences and ask questions in a driver-friendly atmosphere that is structured to help you become a better winter driver.
The Clinic will be held in one of the snowparks (Baker, Stevens, Snoqualmie, or Crystal), in a lowland parking lot if conditions are right for that type of venue, or again on the huge flat surface at Bremerton Motorsports Park (BMP).
We'll be running exercises that demonstrate how your car works. You will learn about your own habits and have the opportunity for lots of practice. Laugh with us (it will be lots of fun) in a full day of serious learning, controlled spinouts, and automotive joy in the snow.
This is a weather-dependent event. It can't happen if we don't have snow so keep close attention to email after you've signed up for email notification here in MotorsportsReg. And due to our dependency on the weather, notice for this type of event may be only a few days in advance and it may potentially be cancelled on the morning of the event.
On the West Side, snow can show up and disappear relatively quickly so we need to be prepared to act. The event date is not known now. We will complete the scheduling very quickly when conditions permit. The event may be on a weekend or on a weekday depending on conditions and availability of the facility. By signing up for email notification now, you will be informed immediately once the event is planned.
ACNA membership is not required for this event.
Licensed teen drivers are encouraged to attend with a parent.
Convertibles may run in this Winter Driving Clinic. No helmets will be required. Please see Event Requirements (next screens).

Event requirements
This Winter Driving Clinic does not have special vehicle requirements.
Proper snow tires are strongly recommended.
Studded tires and chains are NOT permitted on the driving surface at Bremerton Motorsports Park, but other venues may not prohibit them. The intended experience will be realized best using snow tires (SnowFlake) or all-season (M+S) tires in new condtion. Chains will not be permitted for the clinic exercises and autocross.
Helmets are not required for his low speed event.
We also will need your volunteered help to make this event work. Cones must be placed and reset when drivers knock them down. There may be other jobs to support all of us having a day of huge fun in the snow.
Dress properly. It will be cold. There may be wind. There may be no heated shelter. Bring appropriate clothing, especially footgear that will permit standing and walking in the snow. A hooded, wind-proof jacket, proper gloves, and wind-proof pants are recommended.
Guests are encouraged, but everyone must be properly dressed for the conditions.
Everyone must sign the Waiver when coming onto the facility. This requirement includes drivers, instructors, teens, and guests -- everyone must sign. It makes you part of the club's insurance coverage. Parents must sign a Teen Waiver on behalf of partipating teens, and teens must also sign an acknowledgement. No exceptions.
Convertibles must have an approved roll bar, such as the stock roll hoops on the TT roadster, to run this clinic. This rollbar must also pass the “broomstick rule” such that a broomstick/line from the top of the windshield to the top of the roll bar is over the head of the driver.
