Philly Region Doublecross

Wachovia Center

About this event

Philly Region Doublecross Supplemental Rules

1) Only street-tire PAX modifiers will be used for this event (i.e. no Novice, Pro, or Ladies).

2) Two competitors will compete on course at the same time.  Competitors will be lined up using a drag race style start.  There will not be countdown lights - each car will leave on green.  Each car will leave at the same time, one car turning left, and the other car turning right onto a circular course.  Each competitor will complete one lap of the course in a clockwise direction.

3) In the morning session, runs will be timed.  Timers will be triggered by a standard timing system, starting the time when the car crosses the start beam and stopping the time at the finish beam.  The start lights will be used for practice, but there are no penalties for an early start (redlight).  Cones will result in a 2-second penalty, as in a normal Solo event.

4) Each competitor will have two runs on each side in the morning session.  Cars will be staged as during a ProSolo.  A group of 6-12 cars will be pulled to the start line, and will complete all four runs, switching sides each run.

5) 2-driver cars will be staged in a secondary grid for a cool-down period after the first driver has finished running.  These cars will be pulled as a group, where the second driver will complete all of their runs.

6) Once the morning session is complete, the competitors will be seeded into a 64-car double-elimination bracket based on PAX finish from the morning session.  Each competitor will have their seed number written on the windshield with shoe polish or otherwise marked clearly on their car or helmet.  Kart and mod car drivers should plan how to do this easily (blank white construction paper taped to the bodywork for instance).

7) There are five groups established for dial-in calculation: Stock, ST, SP/SM/P/M/F125, Street Tire Stock, and Street Tire SP/SM.  The fastest PAX time in each group on each side will establish the index time for that side.  The dial-in for each class will be calculated based on the index time.  If any group has less than 7 cars in it, it will be combined with another group.

8) Elimination Round: Each pair will be brought to the line, with the higher seed getting lane choice.  The difference in dial-ins will be used to stagger the start lights.  One judge per lane will determine red-lights.  A red-light results in a loss.  If both cars red-light, a rematch will take place.  Both cars will complete one lap, and two on-course judges will indicate the winner.  If the judges disagree on a winner, a rematch will take place.

9) Cone penalties: If cones are hit, the competitor with fewer cones wins.  If both competitors hit an equal number of cones, the first car to the line wins.

10) Rematches: For a rematch, the cars will swap sides and run the course again.  There is no limit to rematches - competitors will run until a winner is decided.

11) After losing the first time, competitors will enter the loser's bracket.  After losing in the loser's bracket, the competitor is eliminated from competition.

12) After both brackets are completed, the winner of the winner's bracket will race the winner of the loser's bracket.  The first competitor to two total losses is eliminated (i.e. one loss for the loser's bracket competitor or two losses for the winner's bracket competitor).  The remaining competitor is the 2011 Philly Region Doublecross Champion.

13) Co-driver Matchups: If co-drivers end up matched against each other in the brackets, they must determine the winner between themselves.  This may be done in any way of the co-drivers' choosing (pre-determined agreement, rock-paper-scissors, MMA cage match, etc.).  One or both competitors may borrow another car and compete on-course.  If they do, the applicable dial-in for the class of cars chosen will be assigned.
