About this event

ONLINE EVENT REGISTRATION is now CLOSED.  It is suggested that if you did not register during the online registration period you contact preregAway@pcasdr.org before heading out to the track so we can confirm your eligibility prior to your departure.

California Festival of Speed

Porsche Club of America  Zone 8 welcomes you!

The 11th Annual California Festival of Speed comes to Auto Club Speedway April 20, 21, and 22, 2012!  This registration site is for Time Trial registration, and HSR-West and Volunteer incidental (dinners, clothing, parking, etc.) registration.  The Time Trial features timed practice sessions on the roval all three days, with "qualifying-style" official timed runs on Sunday afternoon.

Roval

This event also features a Club Race.  Complete registration for the Club Race is at a different site:  http://register.pca.org.  If you aren't sure of the difference between a Time Trial and a Club Race, please contact the Registrar prior to signing up so we can help you register for the proper event on the proper system.

To register online we require that you join our group here on MotorsportReg.com.  Regardless of which region of PCA you belong to or if you don't belong to PCA at all, you must join the PCA - Zone 8 group on this web site.  This will be done as a step in the registration process.  Non-Porsches that meet our rules are welcome!!!

Event Hotel:  Hilton Garden Inn Rancho Cucamonga, CA  92201, (909) 481-1800.  Ask for the PCA rate:  $82 per night until April 9.  Call directly rather than using any website or the travelnow.com or Expedia links to the right in order to get the special rate.

Camping at the Track:  You may camp at the track.  The cost is $40 per night and covers 24 hour security and restrooms with showers, as well as electrical and water hookups.  Check the camping option when you register.

Parking:   We are assigning parking for garages, big-rig parking and large group (>6 cars) parking.  If you have one of these, let us know when you register.

Fuel:  Various grades of fuel will be available at the track, some by advanced order.  Look for an e-mail regarding fuel after you've registered, sometime in April.

Food:  Concession stands will be open and maintained by the track throughout the weekend during the day.  A BBQ dinner Saturday night is available when you register.

Pets:  No animals of any kind are allowed on the Speedway’s property.

Payment:  You may use a credit card to pay if registering online, VISA or MasterCard only, though checks are preferred.  For complete event pricing details proceed with registration steps.  You will have a chance to confirm after you make your selections.

If you have a question about this event, please contact the Registrar at:  TTRegistrar@CalFestival.org.

Event requirements

Prior Experience:  Time Trial participants without a Zone 8 TT/DE Solo Permit (or approved equivalent) must have completed at least 8 Autocross and/or DE and/or Driving School days or equivalent over the past 6 to 24 months, will be considered a Student, and will be issued a Zone 8 Log Book ($10).  Drivers who have not driven at prior Festivals or at any prior PCA-SDR driving events please e-mail a list of your past performance driving events covering a 2 year period, with dates, type of event, and name of sponsoring organization to the Registrar at TTRegistrar@CalFestival.org.  All drivers with a Zone 8 Log Book will be required to have an Instructor.

New Classification System for 2012:  The classification system has changed for 2012.  Even if you participated in the PCA-SDR classification system in 2011 you will still need to reclassify your car from scratch.  Fortunately there's now an online tool to help you do that.  Go to http://zone8.pca.org/CarClass/Default.aspx and enter info about your car.  You need to do this BEFORE you click Continue below and begin to register as you are required to input your 2012 class as part of the registration process.  All cars need to do this, including X class cars, as safety equipment requirements are determined based upon Modification points which are calculated as part of the online tool.  The ability for the online tool to calculate Modification points for non-Porsches is still under development.  Non-Porsches running in X class may register now but will be required to provide their Modification point total prior to the event once the online tool has the functionality to calculate it.

Pre-tech is Strongly Encouraged!  Please try to take your car in for service and have it thoroughly inspected between April 4 and April 17 and after your last event prior to the Festival.  With three days at this world-class facility, you will want to be safe and have your car make it through the long weekend.  Plus you'll want to be certain that, before you leave for the track, you and your car have any required safety equipment (Stock and Street Stock coupes generally need no additional safety equipment, but see the Rules link below to be sure that your car qualifies).  All entrants pre-teching must present a Festival Tech Inspection Form with name, address, phone, car, Zone 8 class, Modification points, etc. to a qualified tech inspection shop.  The form can be found at:  http://www.CalFestival.orgYou must use the special 2012 Festival of Speed Tech Inspection Form and you must fill in all info about yourself and your car class prior to inspection.  Please download the form using the link above.  Do not use any other form as it will not be accepted and you will need to re-tech at the track.  Once you have completed pre-tech, fax page 1 only of your tech form to 619-287-6591 (no cover please) and bring the original with you to the track when you register on-site.

PCA Zone 8 Driving Rules for 2012 can be found here:  http://zone8.pca.org/rules/2012/2012Z8Rules.pdf.

If there are any changes to your registration data after the online registration deadline, you need to notify the Registrar by the Tuesday prior to the event.

All entrants and guests shall be required to sign the PCA waiver upon registering at the track.  You will not be admitted to the infield unless and until you and all your guests sign.  You are responsible for your guests.

Transponders:  If you have an AMB Transponder, be sure you've entered the number under "My Account."  (Hint:  you do this where you edit your vehicle information.)  If you don't have a Transponder, they are available for rent and you must have a Transponder to drive in the Time Trial.
