2010 Tryptophan Recovery Plan

Virginia International Raceway

About this event

FINALLY!!!

After much debate and procrastination, we've finally got the details for the 2010 Tryptophan Recovery Plan. As was hinted at, this will be a TWO DAY event at Virginia International Raceway.  Please read all the details below and feel free to email me with any questions you might have...

Beginners!  This event is for you!! Generally, Asphalt Ventures events are for the more experienced driver, offering open lapping and advanced driver clinics for intermediate through instructor-level drivers.  The Tryptophan Recovery Plan event has always had a beginner element to it, and a more traditional driver's ed feel... but this time, we're ratcheting that up a notch and continuing with our drive to produce the best drivers in the sport. More experienced drivers, don't fret... there's plenty of track time both days for you as well!

Asphalt Ventures/rEvolution Performance 1st Annual Newbie Clinic - VIR Patriot Course & Skid Pad

Beginners & Novice attendees (less than 2 events) will start Sunday morning in skid pad clinic consisting of classroom and skid pad exercises to get a solid feel for vehicle dynamics. After the skid pad exercises, you will then move on to instructed lapping on VIR's Patriot Course... a 1.1 mile circuit inside the famous 3.27 mile Full Course. With more turns and elevation changes in that one mile than many tracks twice its length, it's sure to challenge and exhilarate.  After lots of rest Sunday evening, you'll continue Monday by moving on to VIR's Full Course... the gem of the mid-atlantic and one of the most historic circuits in the country. You'll switch classroom instructors for Monday where you'll be treated to the wisdom of Peter Krause. You'll still have an in-car instructor for Monday as well, so no worries about being thrown in the deep end on your own. By the end of these two days, you'll be worn out and wondering why you didn't do this sooner!!

Intermediate, Advanced/Solo, and Instructors, you've got track time on Sunday the 28th as well... while the Newbies are on skid pad, you'll be navigating all the twists and dips and sweeps that the Patriot Course has to offer. Between sessions, you'll have time to relax with friends and get some skid pad time yourself (if you've never done a skid pad, you owe it to yourself to do it!). You'll alternate with the Newbie clinic for the remainder of the afternoon.

The best part about Sunday?  Everyone gets to SLEEP IN!!!  The All-Hands safety meeting doesn't start until 10:00!... (Registration will start no later than 9:00am, and we'll still be at the track Saturday night for anyone showing up early and sleeping in at the track.)  Lunch on Sundays at VIR is from 11:00-12:00, and it is "quiet hour" out of respect for local residents and churches. We will do some low-speed parade/recon laps around Patriot course during that time. At noon, the FUN BEGINS!!

Asphalt Ventures/rEvolution Performance Driver's Ed & Lapping - VIR Full Course

Monday morning we'll wake up bright and early and ready to go on VIR's 3.27 mile Full Course that we all know and love. With loads of track time for everyone, Chuck Hawks and Peter Krause leading the classroom sessions, and an extra day of Thanksgiving vacation, this is always a popular event, so get registered now!!
