CELEBRATE 30 years of quattro!

Join Audi and VW fans from all over the nation as they gather for the annual drive and social event in the Great Smokies! Last year we had nearly 100, LOTS of rain, and even more fun. This year we'll again camp at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, with access to scenic drives, local attractions, and another unique opportunity to meet friends in our singular passion for automotive excellence:

VORSPRUNG durch TECHNIK!

We've selected Gatlingburg TN as our venue again this year. First, it is family and activity friendly, stays open LONG after dark, and is centrally located to some of the most beautiful driving and scenery in the entire United States.  Ease of access, convenience, and diverse entertainment all led attendess to recommend this venue again.

  1. Our reputation for safe driving is the coin we value most(reminder to you crowd pleasers!!!!) . Enjoy, but responsibly. Remember Rule #1!
  2. Weather in late April and early May should be beautiful!
  3.  Minis on the Dragon will be there all weekend. Their HQ is over at Fontana Village, and they are a great bunch for socializing and driving. Expect traffic on the Dragon, but barring anything untoward, wave at them as we go by!
  4. Routes you can choose yourself:
    1. Great Smoky Mountains
    2. Tail of the Dragon
    3. The Devil's Triangle
    4. Cades Cove
    5. Cherohala Skyway and Dragon loop
    6. Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail
    7. Clingman's Dome
    8. Foothills Parkway
    9. More driving info on all the great scenic areas nearby!

General Schedule

  • Thursday we early birds will arrive and set up HQ at Baskins Creek Condos (info below in the Lodging and Food section). We may even get out for a night drive on the Foothills Parkway and up to Clingmans for a nightime spectacular!
  • Friday we'll have registration open until 12PM, and then after 5PM in the evening. In between, anyone who wants can check into their room and check out the local scene.
  • Saturday we'll have a couple of short and long organized drives, and our intent is to meet in the middle for lunch on the Cherohala Skyway route. This will allow group and individual drives, large and small, and free-lancers to enjoy the challenges of the local area and buzzing the Minis!
  • Sunday we'll exfiltrate back home, hopefully without incident or intervention by others!

COORDINATION and INFORMATION:

See the Cherokee Chapter ACNA website at:
  http://www.cherokeeaudiclub.com for details and updates!

  1. Bring radios: GMRS/FRS radios are nearly universal in their availability. We generally setup on channel 9-14 (we use the sideband), but what is important is that you and your group have an alternate to cell phones. In some places, cells can't talk to one another even though you can see you buddy just ahead of you!
  2. Bring rain gear. Some years the Blue Ridge Parkway was uncooperative. We still had a grand time, but it was cold and wet!
  3. We'll provide a shorthand THP number and other emergency data at the driver's briefings.
  4. Periodically we'll issue updates to registered entrants and on the websites. This might include intel, weather, packing lists, or whatever it is that is on my mind while I'm traveling at 0200 in a Delta luxo-liner!

NOW: CONTINUE REGISTRATION! The early bird gets the worm (and the good rooms!)
