2009 Tryptophan Recovery Plan

Virginia Int'l Full Course

About this event

ATTENTION!  The Intermediate/Advanced group is almost sold out! You may be placed on a wait list for that run group. If it looks like there will not be space available for that run group, other options will be discussed.

Beginner/Novice group attendees will be confirmed (and will only be charged when we know we've got an instructor available for you.)

To close out the 2009 season, we have come up with an event that is sure to please everyone...
The Tryptophan Recovery Plan DE & Lapping Event!

Tryptophan (Trip-tu phan): Commonly thought to cause drowsiness from ingesting copious amounts of turkey during the Thanksgiving holiday festivities (we all know it's actually caused by the consumption of EVERYthing during the holiday, but it sounds neat!)

Come join us for a day of intense (or laid back) driving activities instead of a sedentary work day... do it for your health and well-being!!

Beginners/Novices - Includes classroom and in-car instruction.  Approximately two hours of track time.

Intermediate/Advanced - Includes classroom and in-car instruction (drivers may request to be solo for this group with advanced notice and the proper experience.)  Approximately three hours of track time.

Solo/Instructor - Drivers must have verifiable open lapping experience or be an approved instructor.  Over four hours of track time available.  Included in the entry fee will be two thirty minute advanced seminars. Instructors are guaranteed only one student.

Sunday, November 29th ... please plan on arriving early and join us for THE most detailed and entertaining
seminar on Virginia International Raceway, host by Peter Krause!  This seminar is included in your entry fee and is open to
all attendees, regardless of experience level.

The seminar will begin at 5:00, and last approximately one hour... but in that hour you'll gain some invaluable knowledge
about VIR and how to get around it ... directly from the Master himself.

This seminar is sponsored by:

    • Intermediate/Advanced ... Passing on any straight, with a point
    • Solo/instructor open lapping ... Passing anywhere with a point
    • Passes MUST be cooperative.  No drag racing to the next braking zone.  Please lift to facilitate a clean and efficient pass.
    • Passes should be made offline, but it is always at the discretion of the the car being passed.
  • Passing will be executed with the point-by system:
    • To let someone by on the right: left arm extended over the roof hand pointing to the right side of the car.  One distinct point per car please.
    • To let someone by on the left: left arm extended straight out, pointing to the left.  Please make a distinct motion for each car being let by.
    • No flashing of lights or honking of horns to try to initiate a pass please.  If you want to run with your headlights on so people can see you better, that is acceptable.
    • Passing in turns:  Passing will be allowed (sometimes encouraged) in turns for the open solo sessions with the following stipulations:
      • It is BOTH party's responsibility to ensure the pass is completely safely and efficiently
      • Passes must be made with a point-by, no exceptions
    • Always work together to make the pass happen quickly and safely.
    • To Pit-in: left arm held high out the drivers window, clenched fist (cars behind you need to be able to see it, so hold it high, no resting on the door)
Car Numbers
  • You will be required to run numbers on your car for identification purposes
  • Numbers will not be provided, so be prepared with adhesive or magnetic numbers, or Blue painter's tape
Lunch
  • Food and beverages are usually available at the track.  Always come prepared though with water or Gatorade.
