2014 Spring Advanced Car Control Clinic

Dakota County Technical College

About this event

Spring is right around the corner and we're kicking off the start of the 2014 season with our annual Spring Advanced Car Control Clinic (ACCC) at Dakota County Technical College's (DCTC) Driving Range.

Our ACCC driving school is an opportunity for you to drive your own car around a short technical road course and learn the fundamentals of safe driving.

You will not need any special parts on your vehicle nor require any dedicated safety equipment; however, we do recommend you have your vehicle in good working order, as you will be going through exercises that will push your car beyond normal street driving parameters.  We do require that you remove everything from the interior of your car as well as the trunk.  If doing this at your home prior to departing for the event seems like a better idea than having all of your stuff laying out in the open on pavement, then please do so.  Otherwise, we do expect some students to have items left in their vehicles upon arriving.  This is why we have a pre-session inspection of your vehicle, lead by your assigned instructor.  This is not a comprehensive technical inspection, but we are keeping the safety of everyone in mind when we look for bumpers hanging on by a single corner.

Your day will consist of approximately 50% classroom instruction, lead by one of our top driving instructors, where you will learn about things such as: driver seating positions, vehicle weight transfers, and tire traction limits.  The other 50% of your day will be spent on the driving range, behind the wheel of your own vehicle, with an assigned instructor riding as your passenger.  The course is primarily a cone course with soft run-off areas, providing a safe learning environment for you and your vehicle.

The day starts at 8:00am and runs until 5:00pm.  A quick breakfast menu of donuts and/or bagels with coffee and orange juice will be provided.  Water and soft drinks will be available to you throughout the day.  There will be a quick lunch of pizza or deli sandwiches around mid-day.  Please feel free to bring something additional for yourself, if you should choose to do so.
