Road America - 2011

Road America

About this event

The event starts on Sunday afternoon, with registration, car techs, and a light buffet dinner (provided free with your entry). Then there are mandatory orientation meetings for the drivers and our 40-50 instructors. New to all of this? Don’t worry we will take good care of you. Each year, we give every participant a neat memento or gift from the event to remember his or her experience.

Monday starts with a quick meeting, then classroom for beginner and intermediate drivers. The rest of the morning will be taken up by in-car exercises, led by our instructors. They will show you threshold braking techniques, side-to-side weight transfer in a Slalom exercise, and an accident avoidance exercise. Classroom sessions continue off and on through the two days. If you are a novice you will be assigned an instructor to ride with you whenever you are on the track. In the afternoon, you will go out onto the track. Your instructor will drive you around in your car to show you the line and acquaint you with the track. Instructors drive you at a reasonable and quite reduced speed, as they want you to learn from the orientation. Then, you will begin driving the entire track with the instructor coaching you the entire time.

Monday evening will bring our banquet and a time to socialize with all of the other drivers and instructors from all over the US and some from Canada. Our sponsors always have cool Audi related items that we give away or auction off. The banquet at the Osthoff is also provided free for you as a paid participant. Guest dinners are extra, but not out of line for the great 4- or so course meal.

Tuesday, you will have classroom interspersed with a mystery exercise, and lots of time on the track to hone your skills.
