Kansas City MiDiv Solo Event #4 by R&S and SPS

MCC Precision Driving Center

About this event

Come enjoy Independence, Missouri and the unique venue which promises sweeping turns and fast straights!  The event will be held at the MCC Performance Driving Center on the east side of Independence. The MCC PDC was originally conceived and designed for use in law enforcement and special forces training.  The paved surface is arranged in a street grid with a long wide “runway” that is used for slaloms and offsets.

The MCC PDC is conveniently located on the south side of 23rd Street (Highway 78) which is north of I-70 and east of Highway 291.  From I-70 take the Highway 291 Exit and head north to 23rd Street.  Turn right (east) on 23rd Street and drive approximately 2.75 miles to South Powell Road.  Turn right and then take the first left into the event site.  Those coming from the north can take the 23rd Street exit from I-435 and drive east 8.75 miles to South Powell Road.

Never been to a divisional-level autocross? If you're an SCCA member, this is your chance to compete against some of the best drivers from the Midwest by combining the best times from two days of competition.  For the price of entry, you get two days of competition and a first class banquet. Limited loaner helmets will be available.

MCC Performance Driving Center

Event Format

This is a sanctioned Sports Car Club of America Solo event held under the 2012 Solo Rules and 2012 R&S/SPS MiDiv Solo Series rules, supplemented by the following regulations. A minimum of three runs each of the two days will be allotted.

 Site Information

Lunch will be sold by a vendor on the site.  Those wishing to patronize nearby fast food establishments will find them on Highway 291 south of 23rd Street.
Paddock Space is available on a first-come, first served basis on the concrete pad.  Trailers may be directed to specific locations.  Paddocking is not permitted on the skid pad at the northwest part of the site.  Camping may be allowed at the discretion of the security police but there are not any hook ups.
Restrooms are located on the west end of the site next to the pavilion.

Local Services

The nearest gas station is approximately 3.5 miles west of the event site, located on 23rd Street and Highway 291.

Safety and Conduct

Spectators and competitors not working must view the course from designated spectator points.

A walking pace must be maintained in areas outside course. Speeding, burnouts, tire-warming, and other inappropriate activities at or near the site are potential grounds for event disqualification at the discretion of the series Solo Steward, event chairperson, safety stewards, or their designees. The site borders a residential neighborhood, and there will be no tolerance for unsafe, reckless, or unsportsmanlike behavior.

In grid and paddock, please drive slow and be mindful of people, cars, equipment, and oncoming traffic sharing close quarters. Be aware that youth karts are anticipated entrants, and that no vehicles may be in motion in grid during their runs.

A limited number of loaner helmets will be available. If using one during a run, please return it to the loaner helmet area.

Run/Work

Run/work assignments will be pre-assigned based on the entry list, and in a manner that balances heat sizes and worker coverage. Changes in class or no-shows may demand a change in heat arrangement.

Workers should be ready to report for work before their heat begins. Heat changeovers will be brief. Please listen for announcements made by the Chief or Workers and be on time for your work assignment. Lateness may be taken as a no-show, and result in a disqualification.

Vehicle Identification and Marking

Car number and class must meet the minimum requirements outlined in the Solo Rules. Shoe polish is not acceptable.

Cars must display the applicable series contingency stickers. Decals will be available from Tech and the event sponsors, and will be checked during tech inspection.

Impound and Protests

Results will be posted on the timing and scoring trailer during each heat. Immediately report discrepancies to the event chair or his designee so that they can be brought to timing and scoring for review. Please do not bother the timing and scoring workers in the trailer during competition.

Cars must remain in their grid spot after competition runs until released by grid personnel. If equipped, cars must have their trunks and hoods open after their last run of the heat.

Protests must be reported immediately to the chief of grid, event chair, or series Solo Steward for review by the series Solo Steward.
