Women's Motorsport Day (Workers) - Oct 22

Marina Airport

About this event

This registration form is for volunteer workers (instructors and staff) only. If you wish to register as a student, please use the student registration form.

This is the BMW club Golden Gate Chapter’s first ever Women’s Motorsport Day for women only!
This will be an all-day combined Car Control Clinic and Autocross event for first timers and beginners to advanced driving skills. The goals of the event are to offer women a more relaxed, less testosterone-fueled introduction into motorsports and to increase the numbers of women in motorsports.

This event registration is for both Instructors and Staff volunteers.  If you have already been cleared to be an Instructor, please sign up as Instructor, otherwise sign-up as Staff.

Why might you want to participate as instructors? Some reasons are: to share your knowledge and experience and support other women in better driving, discounted additional driving events/training, teach and practice at Car Control Clinics!

Why might you want to participate as staff? To support women and to help make this event a success!  Staff will be staging, cone resetting, helping with sign-ins, registration, etc.

Instructor prerequisites include strong car control skills, an understanding of vehicle dynamics, and the ability to communicate well with a variety of students while in a moving car. If you are currently a BMW CCA HPDE instructor, Tire Rack Street Survival instructor, or have similar background, you may have all the right qualifications already to be an instructor, and just need to learn the specifics about our program.

If you have not previously volunteered for a Golden Gate Chapter Car Control Clinic event, please contact the coordinators and register as Staff and a brief description of your motorsports background in the "reason for attending" entry box.

If you have not instructed with us previously, please register as Staff and indicate your interest in instructing in the "reason for attending" entry box. We will be contacting you!  Please register early so that we can more easily plan the event.

This event, October 22, 2016 Women’s Motorsport Day, will be held at Marina Airport, in Marina, CA, near Monterey and near Laguna Seca. Please plan to arrive between 7 and 7:30am. Students start arriving at 7:30am. We will need a few instructors/staff to be present at 7:00 when the gates open to help with waivers, trailer setup, etc. Please indicate if you can arrive early.

Thank you for volunteering. We have no program without dedicated instructors and staff members.

If you have further questions please contact us at wmdaycoordinator@ggcbmwcca.org.

Event requirements

Please read the Car Control Clinic Overview for a review of the type of material we will be offering at this event.  This event is based on the Car Control Clinics but with an introduction to Autocross too; also see the Autocross Overview for more information on our autocross program.

We will be sending instructors and staff information specific to this event  and plan to schedule a review (over the internet) for instructors and staff volunteers prior to the event using Google hangouts.

Helmets are required for this clinic. Your helmet must meet the BMW CCA’s helmet standards (Snell SA or M 2005 or more recent)  and must be inspected at check-in.

If you plan to use your car at the event, tech it, have a qualified mechanic tech it, or have it tech’ed on site.
