Event requirements

Gear Requirements:

Our gear requirements are easy to meet, and these are the items that all motorcyclists should own and use.

We have included some photos below, but there are many options for good quality motorcycle gear, if you have any questions or need some advise prior to purchasing your track gear please send us an e-mail: trackday@motoyard.com.

Quality riding gear should be viewed as an investment, not an expense. If you purchase high-quality items, they should provide you with many years of protection and comfort.

JACKET/PANTS: One piece leathers or two-piece leathers that connect with a zipper are required. No Mesh type of suits are allowed.

HELMET: UNDAMAGED, full-faced helmet with DOT, SNELL, or BSI rating. No open face or two piece (flip up) helmets are allowed. We strongly suggest riders not to attach any kind of cameras, equipment etc, to their helmets.

HELMET FIT: It is imperative that your helmet fit properly. There should be no space between your head and face, and the cheek and forehead pads. If anything, the pads should gently compress your face. If you can easily fit a finger between your head and the pads, then your helmet is improperly fitted and may not adequately protect you in a crash.

BACK PROTECTOR: We strongly suggest each rider to wear back protector.

GLOVES: Must be full length, non-mesh, leather motorcycle gloves. There should be no rips or excessive “scuffs”. When in the riding position, there can be no exposed skin. The gloves must have a gauntlet that fully covers your wrist.

BOOTS: Motorcycle specific boots that fully cover the ankle are required. Boots should have significant protective items in the ankle area. Sneakers, “stunting” boots, andwork boots are not allowed.

KNEE SLIDERS/TOE SLIDERS: If your gear has these, they must be plastic or leather. All “sparking” type sliders are strictly prohibited!

If you have any questions or concerns, please email us: trackday@motoyard.com. While we strongly encourage you to purchase your own high-quality gear, we do rent some of the items on a first come-first served basis. Please email us more details: trackday@motoyard.com, we will be more than happy to answer all your questions.

What to bring:

  • Your driver license or identification card, so we can verify your identity.
  • Current Health Insurance, if you have it. It is helpful to have a copy on hand, just in case. We don’t provide health insurance.
  • Bike Key – you’ll be surprised how many people have to hot wire their bike or go home.
  • Gas (VP Racing Fuel) is usually available for sale at Willow Springs. Bring your own gas if you want to save some money – race fuel is pricey.
  • Chairs and canopy. It is nice to have a place to sit, and even nicer to have a little shade to sit under when you are not on the track. If you don’t have a canopy, lots of folks do…. so make some friends at the track.
  • Bring Water! Dehydration is a rider’s worst enemy! We will provide FREE drinks throughout the day, but if we run out, you are responsible for keeping yourself hydrated!
  • Change of clothes for when you are finished riding. You don’t want to drive home in the same sweaty stuff you’ve been riding in all day.
  • Bring a friend, in case you need them to drive you back.

Bike Prep:

Chain - For occasional track use your chain does not require any adjustment beyond what is recommended in your owner’s manual.

Controls - We’ll be checking to see that your kill switch works, the throttle return spring works, clutch and break levers work, foot brake and shift lever, etc. We don’t care about the horn or the adjustable wind screen.

Headlight disabled and taped

Tail light disabled and tapped over

Mirrors removed or taped

Good Tires - Regardless, the tread pattern (any portion of it) must not be down to the wear indicators when you arrive for tech inspection.

Tape your wheel weights

It is recommended to use Water Wetter in your radiator but it is not mandatory

Check your tire pressure

Cancellation Policy:

We are aware of unforeseen circumstances and we understand how things can change last minute. Please keep in mind, we are still obligated to pay the track rental, ambulance service, corner workers and all other services that are required to run a track day, whether or not you show up. In order to keep out-of-pocket expenses down we use the following rules for all reservations:

Your credit or carry over amount will depend on the time you request to cancel or reschedule:

- All sales are final.
- Cancellations 10 or more days prior to the track day event = $25 processing fee.
- Cancellation requests within 10 days of the event will not be granted and result in a forfeit of payment. No refunds!
- NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS will be given the day of the event for any reason including weather, failing tech inspection, mechanical issues, on track incidents, fatigue, nausea, headache, cramps, need gas money, kids college fund etc.…
- You can transfer or sell your spot to another rider. Motoyard must be notified of the transfer prior to the event. You can notify us at trackday@motoyard.com.
- In order to receive a credit it is up to you to make sure we are notified. You have several contact options: by using our contact form, or by email at trackday@motoyard.com.

•If you received a discount by purchasing multiple track day events together, and decide to cancel one of the events, Motoyard.com will cancel the discount you received when ordering.

Rain Policy:

All events are "RAIN OR SHINE", meaning, we ride regardless of pouring rain or 116 degree burning sun, unless the track administration specifies otherwise. Riding well in the rain requires smoothness, concentration and a relaxed, confident rider. If you can master these in the wet, you will find you have made tremendous gains when you get back to the dry. Students consistently tell us they learned more in the wet than they ever thought they would.

We do not control weather conditions, if it rains we get wet, if the sun shines we sweat, both ways we are still liable for track rental fees and everything that goes into running the track day. On the positive note it rarely rains in Southern California.
