Welcome to The 6th GREAT Ice Cream Run - another Tar Heel MINI Motoring Club adventure dedicated to MINI owners who love motoring AND ice cream!
Due to its popularity, we will be heading back to Bar Harbor. This year’s run is a 6-day long trip from June 11-16. It will take us from Staunton, VA to Hagerstown, MD to Corning, NY, Port Jervis, NY to Tewksbury, MA to Freeport, ME and end at Bar Harbor, ME. We will make stops at our favorite ice cream parlors and add some new ones along the way to our destination. In addition to the awesome motoring and daily ice cream stops, we will be visiting The Glass Museum @ Corning, NY and The FDR Presidential Library and Museum, Hyde Park, NY and sightseeing at some of Maine’s lighthouses. Do the entire run, or just join us for a day or two as we pass through your area. And for those of you who cannot get enough motoring, you will be able to join another awesome excursion with MINIs on Top to Mt. Washington, NH, June 16-17.
Routes
The event spans 6 days long from June 11-16. The route will take us from Staunton, VA to Hagerstown, MD to Corning, NY to Port Jervis, NY to Tewksbury, MA, to Freeport, ME and to our destination, Bar Harbor, ME. We will travel mostly on state roads or secondary roads. But on some sections, in order to save time, especially in the Northeast from New York to Maine, we will have to travel on interstate toll highways. So please purchase an E-ZPass transponder before the trip.
You can travel by yourself or with the group. It’s up to you. You can choose to do the entire run or just join us for a day or two as we pass through your area. Each day we will have a drivers' meeting before leaving the hotels. Please check the daily route plans for meeting times.

Day 1 - Sunday June 11: Staunton, VA - Frederick, MD
Day 2 - Monday June 12: Frederick, MD - Corning, NY
Day 3 - Tuesday June 13: Corning, NY - Port Jervis, NY
Day 4 - Wednesday June 14: Port Jervis, NY - Tewksbury, MA (Note: Will need E-ZPass today)
Day 5 - Thursday June 15: Tewksbury, MA - Freeport, ME
Day 6 - Friday June 16: Freeport, ME - Bar Harbor, ME
Note: For those of you who use Android mobile device, you must install “My Maps” app to view my routes. For Apple IOS mobile users, sorry, Google doesn’t support this feature. But you should be able to view these maps on your computers.
To install the “My Maps” app, you need a personal Google account or Google Apps account and a device running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or up.

Follow the prompts to finish the installation.

Once done, touch the My Maps app icon
. This opens the app.
We design this registration to allow you to register for one or more days of the event. While the diehards will make all 6 days, some drivers will join for one or more days as their schedules allow. For those joining the tour on route please note the hotel where the group is staying that night and meet us there or meet us the next morning for the drivers' meeting. Thank you for interested in the Great Ice Cream Run 6. We appreciate you taking your time to register. Some information to help you with the process:
Registration fees for this event is $10 for the Driver, and $5 for each Passenger/s. Please remember to register your passenger/s too.
Registration for the Driver includes the following items:
- Nametag
- Lanyard
- MINI, Ice Cream & Lighthouse vinyl window sticker
- 3" round magnet badge
- Printout of daily route
Registration for each Passenger will receive
- Nametag
- lanyard.
One 3" magnet badge is included with the $10.00 driver registration fees. You can purchase extra magnet for $5.00 each.
One vinyl window sticker is included with the $10.00 driver registration fees. You can purchase extra window sticker for $3.00 each.
A final note - you are welcome to join or leave the tour at any point. Do the entire run, or just join us for a day or two as we pass through your area. Please check The Great Ice Cream Run 6 page for the latest information.
T-shirts are now being handled as a separate item. So if you order a registration package, don't forget to add a t-shirt. T-shirts will be available for ordering until May 1, 2017. Below are the pictures of our t-shirt.
