Indy SCCA Solo Series Presents:
Indy DragCross Event #1
April 16, 2016
Rain or Shine
Grissom Aeroplex, Peru, IN
***NO JUNIOR KARTS ALLOWED***
Take two parts autocross and one part drag racing, mix thoroughly and you get DRAGCROSS. Drivers face off, side-by-side at a “Christmas Tree” start, before launching themselves down a straightaway and into separate autocross courses. DRAGCROSS offers more seat time than a traditional autocross giving a minimum of 8 runs in an event. Drivers qualify by making 4 passes, 2 on each course and the best time from each course are added and that becomes the drivers qualifying time. Drivers are then grouped into either 8 or 16 car eliminators based on their qualifying times. In eliminations, Drivers face off with one another by taking a lap on each course per round pairing with their times being added. The competitor with the lower combined time wins the round. Each eliminator will produce a winner. First round losers go to a last chance eliminator where they can compete to get to the Top Eliminator Round. The eliminator winners then square off with each other to be crowned Top Eliminator of the event! The Top Eliminator rounds are run with a handicap to equalize the competition. Maximum seat time plus maximum competition equals massive fun!
Gates open at 7am or sunrise whichever is later.

Enter the gate at the water tower off US 31.
All SCCA Solo rules are in effect except as explained below:
The event has two parts: Qualifying and Eliminations.
Qualifying will be four runs, two on each course. Cones will count for two seconds added to the time per cone. Missed gates or sections of the course will result in a DNF (Did Not Finish) for that run and a time of 999.999 will be given. Qualifying time will be the accumulation of the four times. Qualifying determines place on ladder for eliminations.
Eliminations will be a ladder format. Example: Ladders will be split into run groups consisting of sixteen cars per group: Run group one would consist of cars qualified one thru 16, run group two, seventeen thru 32, etc. Any competitors that fall into the lowest run group that cannot create either an eight or sixteen car ladder will be added to the first round loser run group. Each run group will ladder drivers this way: Example- a 16 car ladder would ladder one -vs- sixteen, two -vs- fifteen, etc. Each run group will produce one “winner” and the winner of each run group will race each other for Top Eliminator of the event. First round losers will compete in a consolation group that will be laddered according to qualifying time. Hit cones are a disqualification and automatic loss. Each pairing in each round will make a run in each lane. The round winner is the competitor with the fastest combined time from the two runs.
Cone Penalties in qualifying will follow normal SCCA Solo rules. In eliminations, any hit cones will result in a DQ.
Bye Runs must be run and all penalties are enforced.
Starting Procedure Will be a traditional drag race start with a Drag Tree. We will pull two cars up at a time, then the drivers will get the pre stage and stage lights. Yellow lights will start and the drag race begins on the green!
Re-runs will only be granted if both drivers have clean runs. Jump starts, cone calls, and DNFs override a re-run situation.
Red Flag Procedure: If a red flag is called, then both courses are red flagged. If a red flag is due to the result of a disqualifying infraction, the opposite side automatically wins. If the red flag is for a situation other than a disqualifying infraction, the race is re-run.
Trophies will be awarded for Group winners, and Top Eliminator and best reaction time at the end of the day.
Two driver cars: Two driver cars ARE allowed.
