Cal Club Ladies Autocross School

Auto Club Speedway

About this event

The purpose of the Ladies’ School is to introduce women to competitive SCCA Autocross.

Autocross events are held in large parking lots or on inactive airport runways. Courses, defined by pylons, are designed to be driven in second gear, no faster than typical highway speeds.

This school is designed for women who have less than two years experience (Yes to first timers!).

Our main goal is that the students have fun and build confidence in a safe environment as they learn:
·    The basics of analyzing the course during the course walk
·    Basic car handling techniques and driving skills
·    Competitive driving strategies.

The all female instructor staff features VERY talented experienced competitors – most being multi-time regional and national Solo champions. Instructors with expertise in Front, Rear and All-Wheel Drive cars will be available.

Students are required to bring a “Sponsor” (parent, spouse, boyfriend, partner, friend, etc)  as workers to support the event so the ladies can focus on the school.  Sponsors will get free runs on the course at the end of the day.

Students are encouraged to bring their own helmets (SNELL 2005 or newer).  Limited loaner helmets will be available.

Cars will be inspected for safety (“Technical Inspection” – a.k.a. “Tech”) before being allowed to participate. (Refer to check list, next page)

What the school is not:
This school is not to intended to teach someone how to drive a car, a “Teen Safe Driving School” or an introduction to driving or learning to drive a manual transmission (“stick shift”). Although new drivers with a “learner’s permit” are allowed, participants should already have a basic competency in their vehicle’s operation and basic car controls established in the car that they will be driving in the school.
