Instructors, Brush up on your Instructing Skills

The Allegheny Region Porsche Club of America (ARPCA) is hosting an Instructor Training Program in conjunction with Pitt Race and you are invited to attend.

This event will be a combination of driving and instruction.

When:  April 3, 2015

Time:    Registration opens at 8:30AM Class 9:00 AM to 4:45 PM – lunch will be provided.

Where: Pittsburgh International Race Complex

PittRace - Wampum, PA

About this training:

  • The 2015 season classroom content – new “D” group in-class instruction
  • Presentation of material to develop consistent teaching at track events.
  • Discussion of competencies – how to instruct to correct bad habits
  • Discuss teaching the new track at PittRace

 Lunch: Provided (Subway)

PittRace will set up their simulator to allow you to virtually drive the new track!

Afternoon: The afternoon session will be on track and will about how to instruct on an unfamiliar track

  • Driving the North track backwards at 7/10ths – Instructing a track unfamiliar to the instructor.
  • Corner Observations and coaching from the corners
  • If we finish early we can run some "hotter" laps - provided we get corner worker volunteers.

Specific details will be discussed in the Classroom Session.

Everyone should bring a track worthy (self-inspected) car.  A 2014 inspection sheet is required to drive.

We will have some time for “hot” laps later in the day – but will we will need to man the flag stations in shifts.

Bring your communication device and helmet.

Why Instructor Training?

ARPCA started an instructor-training program in support of our regional Driver’s Education program to provide consistent training at our events. Cars have continued to increase in horsepower and capability.  As the speeds increase for the new driver, instructing skills need to keep up.

Who can participate?

You must be an approved instructor for the ARPCA region, nearby region, or Pitt Race to register for this event.  If you are not currently an approved instructor for one of these groups you will need to talk with Drake Core, the Chief Instructor for ARPCA Region.

Drakes contact information is:

There are only 50 spaces available and slots will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis.  We will establish a waiting list and fill it based on any cancelations
