AMP Winter Driving Program

Atlanta Motorsports Park

About this event

Improve Your Winter Driving Skills!

Are you like most Atlanta n’s, unskilled at driving in snow and ice?

Don't be that person stranded on the side of the road or the one filling out a police accident report, when the AMP Driver Development School could possibly help you avoid this nightmare.

Atlanta Motorsports Park has a solution for any age driver to avoid those potential disasters. We will train you on a purpose made ice hill and skid pad at AMP that simulates snow, rain and icy conditions. This will allow you to be a better driver in those type scenarios instead of being the person stranded in a ditch or a crash.

We can give you the skills, how you apply them is up to you. The difference between crashing your car and making it home safely in snow, ice or rain is one simple class!

Our Winter Driving Program is only $249! Plus you’ll get to drive our BMW vehicles. Don't let a small investment stand between you and safety.

Disclaimer: This program does not prevent accidents or injury. It is in car training to help prevent some of the challenges people face when driving. Vehicle, driver skill, awareness and conditions are so complex no training can offer total avoidance of accidents.

Students will learn:

Driving basics on icy conditions
Importance of vision
Cornering - understeer and oversteer
Proper Braking
Proactive vs. reactive
Effects of weight transfer
Safe following distance

The AMP Winter Driving Program will be given at the Atlanta Motorsports Park facility in Dawsonville, Georgia. We will utilize the new Driver Development Center (Ice Hill & Skid Pad).

·       Driving Exercises

In a controlled environment, students get behind the wheel of a new BMW 3 Series and experience a wide range of driving conditions. AMP driving instructors are in the vehicle with the students giving immediate feedback on safety precautions and vehicle handling corrections as students respond to real-world scenarios.

·       Skid Control

We will use our cutting edge skid pad to teach them skid control.

·    “Ice Hill”

We will use our first of its kind “Ice Hill” to demonstrate real world, reactionary scenarios where by remote control we can “pop” up water jets for them to avoid on a polished slick surface; similar to that of a car, child or object, “springing” up before you.

·       Car Control

Learning vehicle dynamics help drivers safely maintain control of their car at all times and experience the importance of patience in the process of managing the load transfer of the vehicle.

·       Accident Avoidance

Maneuvering vehicles through a series of courses simulating real-life road conditions, students learn what best to do in the event of an unexpected hazard.

·       Braking

Students learn effective ways to handle unexpected braking and panic stops before an accident occurs.

·       Target Fixation

AMP driving instructors teach students to focus on where the vehicle needs to be rather than on the object they are trying to avoid.
