ACNW QuattroFest '14

Portland Int'l Raceway

About this event

Audi Club Northwest welcomes members to Portland International Raceway (PIR) for QuattroFest 2014, sponsored again this year by Sunset Audi!

QuattroFest has been our signature event at PIR for many years, with driving activities for adults and teens on both days, a Reception and Banquet on Saturday evening (exciting 2014 details to be confirmed shortly), and access to the attractions of metropolitan Portland easily available by car or MAX light rail trains to downtown right from the track.  November 1-2 is a weekend that the whole family can enjoy.

Tailor-made for driving schools like QuattroFest, the PIR facility has enough room to simultaneously run lapping sessions and skills exercises.  This physical arrangement also allows QuattroFest to hold an autocross, which will be available all day Sunday.  The track has two miles of asphalt for everyone to enjoy.  It features twelve turns that will include the famous "Festival Curves" for this event (http://tinyurl.com/PIR20101106).  Easy to learn but challenging to perfect, PIR has a storied history.  It has hosted many huge events including CART, IMSA, Trans Am, ALMS, NASCAR, and other national racing series.

On Saturday, the driving event starts with our Drivers Skills (DS) program for novice drivers, and lapping for more experienced drivers.

Learning to be better drivers is what Audi Club Northwest is all about.  For some information about what our driving schools look like please go to <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U21597saV44&list=UUEDyhngQrey9DIMoU-9O1Ug> where you can view a video.  This link gives you an overview of how Audi Club North America driving schools are structured.  Drivers Skills students will participate in the DS Autocross in the late afternoon (no helmets are required for Saturday DS or DS Autocross).  HPDE Lapping does require helmets on Saturday and Sunday.

Our Saturday Banquet includes door prizes (lots of great swag), the now-famous Auction and guest speakers for your enjoyment.  A casual Reception starts at 6:00pm at the Red Lion Hotel on the Columbia River.  The banquet follows at 7:00pm sharp.  Plan on a terrific dinner with wonderful friends, good food, and an entertaining experience for Audi enthusiasts.

On Sunday, you go back to the track and continue with either HPDE Lapping or Full Autocross all day.  Both Lapping and the Full Autocross require helmets on Sunday.

If you have questions about how to register, email the Registrar (link below).  We can help you tailor this event to your experience and needs.

We hope you will consider joining us for this very special QuattroFest!

Convertibles may run in Saturday's Driver Skills exercises and the autocross on both days. Please see Event Requirements in the next screens for details. Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs, SAVs, CUVs), trucks and other high-roll-center vehicles are not permitted on either Saturday or Sunday. Contact the Event Master or Registrar (below) for clarification if you are unsure about whether your vehicle qualifies or not.

Helmet requirement is Snell 2005 or later.  Helmets rated SA, M, or K are okay.  Helmets are not required for the Driver Skills Exercises on Saturday morning nor for the DS Autocross on Saturday afternoon.  Helmets are required for the Full Autocross on Sunday, as well as all NPDE Lapping sessions.  Club helmets are available in several sizes for rental ($25) on a first come, first served basis.  Please specify a size when registering.

Red Lion Hotel on the River-Jantzen Beach is our hotel for this event.  The club has reserved a block of rooms at a group discount of $99 per night for two queen beds or $109 for a king bed.  These rooms will go quickly.  Call the hotel directly at 503-283-4466 or 1-800-Red-Lion to make a reservation, ask for the Audi Club rate; or use this reservation website set up for ACNW: <https://resweb.passkey.com/go/audinw2014>.  Internet is included.  100% non-smoking.  Accessible rooms are available.

Event requirements

Everyone must sign the Release and Waiver for Audi Club Northwest’s insurance coverage when coming onto the facility.  This requirement includes drivers, instructors, teens, guests and visitors.  The full text of this Release and Waiver is on the next screens.  Please read it carefully.  Please contact the Event Master or Registrar prior to the event with any questions.

A Chalk Talk is required for Driver Skills (DS) attendees, and recommended for all.  It is being held at the track on Saturday morning.  Don't be late.

Convertibles and roadsters are not permitted to run high speed driver training or lapping events unless equipped with an approved aftermarket 4-point roll bar or rollcage in the car, and 4-point ASM(anti submarining), 5-point or 6-point harnesses. Equal restraints must be provided for both the passenger and the driver.  For example, harnesses with 4, 5, or 6 point mounts used by the driver, must also be provided for the front seat passenger.  The roll bar must pass the “broomstick rule” such that a broomstick from the top of the windshield to the top of the roll bar is over the head of the driver. The TT convertible, A4 Cabriolet and S4 Cabriolet will not qualify for tech inspection without an aftermarket roll bar.  The Audi Club North America policy is posted on the Audi Club North America website under Event Rules for your review <http://www.audiclubna.org/images/forms/ACNA_Driving_School_Guidelines_2013-03-05.pdf>.

Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs, SAVs, CUVs), trucks and other high-roll-center vehicles are not permitted on Saturday or Sunday.  Email the event master or registrar if you have questions on this.

Saturday lapping has very limited on-track instruction available.  If you are not signed off solo and an instructor is not available your registration may be converted to Saturday Autocross/Sunday Lapping with proper credits applied.  Please inquire.  The club will try to have instructors available for anyone who wants coaching, and for those who are not signed off to Intermediate (solo).  Please indicate the signoff in your Log Book for driver skill level when that question appears in the registration process.

Cancellation Policy for this event:  It is the entrant's responsibility for preparing and bringing a vehicle meeting the technical requirements. If your car fails morning tech at the track and cannot be fixed, you will not be able to run and you will not get a refund.

No refunds will be issued due to halting an event for any reason - rain, incident, etc.

If you must cancel, please do so early so that we may allow another participant into your space. Any refunds due under the cancellation policy will be issued as soon as practical after the event.

Helmets are required for the Full Autocross on Sunday, as well as all HPDE Lapping sessions.  Helmets are NOT required for the DS Exercises on Saturday morning nor for the DS Autocross on Saturday afternoon.

Our Helmet Requirement for this event is for Snell 2005 or later. The SA (Special Application-Automotive), M (Motorcycle) and K (Karting) designators are approved until 2016. We have 28 club helmets in various szes available for rent ($25) on a first come, first serve basis.  If you still need a helmet but they are all rented out at the time of your registration, please make a note in the registration comments that you need one.  We cannot guarantee that one will become available however.  You will not be allowed to participate without a helmet.
