8th Annual Drive For The Kids Tour

 Saturday, September 20, 2014

Benefiting The Children’s Hospital Colorado Sports Program
for Children with Physical Disabilities

Hosted by the Denver Round Table, The Rocky Mountain Region Porsche Club, and the Rocky Mountain Jaguar Club.

We INVITE you to participate in the 8th year of this fabulous drive raising funds for children with disabilities.  This year's tour will kick off the day with a leisurely start at 10:00am on Saturday, September 20 in the historic mining town of Idaho Springs at the Buffalo Restaurant.  After a hearty brunch and drivers meeting, we head into the mountain foothills following a special route planned to highlight the splendor of Colorado fall colors.   As we wind through the mountains, there will be a fun stop for dessert and a tour of the Hiwan Homestead Museum.  We will conclude our drive in late afternoon at the Hilton Garden Inn in the Denver Tech Center.  Once you arrive, an open bar will quench your thirst while you peruse the many items available in the silent auction.  You will then be treated to a sit down dinner with a menu designed to please your palate.  In addition to the silent auction, you will participate in a fun filled live auction event packed with unique items and experiences that is sure to entice spirited bidding!    Should you desire to extend your evening into the night, plan an over night stay with the Hilton Family; breakfast is included.

The Denver Round Table's goal is to provide a relaxing day of scenic driving, great food, beautiful accommodations, lively conversation  with other participants, all while supporting  Children's Hospital Colorado Sports Program. It is not a race or a test of skill, and ample time will be allowed for pictures, sightseeing, and discovery.  The enjoyment of the day will be enhanced for the participants by knowing that all of their entry fee (less only the cost of meals) will be going to Children's Hospital Colorado Sports Program.

The tour is open to all who wish to have a beautiful Fall day of driving guided by a route booklet that will allow you to thoroughly enjoy the scenic drive.  The event is open to all vehicle types and membership in a car club is not required.  Throughout the day you will have a chance to meet great folks, enjoy beautiful roads, and be instrumental in helping the kids in the programs we support.

In the event you cannot make the drive, join us for a fabulous evening of libations, dinner and the silent and live auction with items sure to please!

Even if you can't join us, your individual support through sponsorships donations, auction items, and raffle ticket purchases will provide major funding for this nationally recognized year-round Sports Program for special kids.

THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL COLORADO SPORTS PROGRAM
In 1968, The Children's Hospital Colorado Sports Program became the first ski program in the country for children with disabilities.  Participants have physical disabilities ranging from amputations and spinal cord or brain injuries to long term illnesses and conditions like cerebral palsy, cancer and spina bifida.  For many of these kids, it is their first opportunity to move fast enough to feel the wind in their hair, and have the freedom of speed and control that we all take for granted in our everyday lives.  That freedom translates to self-confidence, self-esteem, and all the other "self" words critical to a brighter future.  The Sports Program offers year-round involvement in leisure pursuits such as skiing, boarding, golfing, and fishing.  Over 100 children and their families are able to enjoy these unique opportunities each year.
